mer - even though i can only try to feebly imagine your life right now, i think i got a little better picture of it this past weekend. we went to the field museum and there was an african culture exhibit. they talked about the senegalese holiday Tabaski (? is that right?) and i learned about the tea drinking tradition, saw some of the clothes, and they even had a recipe for "cheb" (some fish and red rice dish)... do you do any of that stuff? reading these entries, honestly, i can't even describe how crazy it is to me that you are over there and living it. this could have been an entry in itself. sorry ;) i got your cards!!!! and i'm writing you a letter right now. LOVE!!!! Laura B
